SE Asia 2020 – Day 04 – Saigon for LNY

These are soo cute!!

Family Dim Sum

Today was another early day, coincidentally my other side of the family was also here so we met up for dim sum at Tien Phat – Diem Tam Hong Kong! It’s a narrow building but it went up 3 floors. Definitely a busy place and they only open until noon! My family kept bringing up that they had dumpling noodle soups, usually not something I would get during dim sum but I said why not, I ended up getting a bowl and some classic dishes to go with it – some har gow and siu mai ~

Yummy Springrolls

Guess what’s a couple of hours after breakfast? More food! I’m having the best time here. During dim sum, we kept talking about this place that had really good spring rolls, so my aunt decided to fry some up since she was given a batch of freshly made ones for the new year! I’m missing this already, kind of want to make some of my own now!

I also tried a can of Bird’s Nest, a popular tonic in Chinese culture that does amazing things for your health.

Saigon

We went to Saigon in the mid-afternoon to check out the displays they had for Lunar New Year. Good thing we went a little earlier because it can get pretty busy near the early evening! It got so crowded I almost gave up trying to see all of it. So many people… and so hot.

Look at these cute exercising hamsters!

I think it took a little more than an hour to get through it all since we stopped to take pictures at almost every display. It was nice to be able to just step out for a bit and get a drink at a cafe that has outside seating! We went to Sunwah Towers Cafe Nguyen Hue. I ordered a coconut ice cream dessert with diced up mangos, red bean, peanuts, and a chocolate wafer. It all comes in a whole coconut and they also give you the coconut water from it! It was so refreshing! I loved eating the tender meat inside afterwards. Ahh, the full experience.

I went into Miniso and couldn’t resist picking up some goodies…

Around the same area, I found this awesome building! I wish I was able to check it out that day but we didn’t have time. I love the idea of all those shops in one building though, making the aesthetics outside so satisfying. It’s so creative and cute, I love it.

This concludes Day 04!

Remember to keep chasing!
