SE Asia 2020 – Day 03 – Eat, Relax, Repeat

Lazy Day

The title explains it all. I woke up a little later today because I can be a piece of poop. Later was still 9 am though… I had a quick breakfast of eggs and Vietnamese pork sausage in a baguette. So simple, but so delicious. I also tried the beef version for the first time today and man, there was so much more flavour! Either way, I love chả.

After that, I literally just chilled around until lunch…I was prepared to keep busy during my stay in Vietnam so it felt a little off that I’m not doing much. Eventually, I came to appreciate it because I’m on vacation, and there isn’t much time back home where I can just relax and forget about responsibilities.

On the second day of the new year, we pay our respects to who we believe in. After that, we feast! From the middle, top, then clockwise we have:

  • Syut yi tong (snow fungus soup)
  • Pan fried joong (sticky rice with meat filling)
  • Chicken
  • Veggies
  • Crab and shrimp
  • Siu yuk (crispy pork belly)
  • Lap cheong (Chinese sausage)
  • Cha siu (bbq pork)
  • Beef tongue (I won’t even bother with the spelling of this one)

Look at this! Omg, it was so good. The head was the best!

After lunch, a few of us went to visit other family. Blood-related? I’m not even sure, we’re all family I suppose. Haha. We travelled via scooter, so it was very… Scenic.

We were offered some snacks, jerky for dayyss.

I also love me some Winter Melon Tea!

For dinner we had whatever leftover from earlier and a few more dishes!

Mmm, when this was brought out, they literally said its pepper cooked with pepper. Telling me it’s going to be some spicy stuff and it turned out to be the most delicious thing! There are eggs, thin slices of pork belly, cabbage, and… Obviously, all the peppers.

And what did I do after dinner? You guessed it! Nothing, just chilled, and prepping my blog posts I guess. So I wasn’t entirely unproductive. Then a little later in the night, I played some big 2. It’s been a while since I’ve played and I forgot how much I loved this game. It’s a totally different type of strategy when you’re playing for money though. Ha. Still loved it… 🙄

Not much happened today, but Day 04 will be more eventful I swear! We went into Saigon Center to check out the LNY festivities!

Thanks for reading and keep on chasing the impossible!
